I can hear sound from my headphones but not the inbuilt speakerson my laptop (which is a dell)?

ok so i was using the microphone messin around andthen when i tried to play some music from my itunes i cldnt hear it. i plugged in my headphones and they work but my inbuilt ones dnt????? i really need help. nd no my computer is not muted. im not that dumb.
