How do I get dirt out of Burton P1 ratchet?

Hi! My board accidentally fell into the garden at my house and some soil got into the ankle ratchet of my P1. For those who have em, P1 ratchets are soooo silky smooth and silent when you flip em. Now it's making a very faint but noticeable "sc-crackle" instead of the usual silence. It's driving me nuts!!
