Should I break up with my BOYFRIEND??? I need advice please.?

Me and my boyfriend of 9 months are at a crossroads. Summers ending and we are going to different schools. I dont think I can handle a long distance relationship anymore but I love him. i dont want to lose him and im scared if i do i wont find anyone else. he is a great christian guy and never would hurt me. But he is starting to take advantage of thing like money and is sorta lazy. my mom thinks I should find someone else. But he is a great guy and i dont see how you can break up with 's for the best someone you love? but maybe its for the best ? :( what do you think?
