For most of the people, the free versions of Avast or Avira will just be enough. If you have a relatively faster system, you might also want to install Zone Alarm free firewall. Also having Malwarebytes' Antimalware for occasional on-demand scan is an excellent idea. All of them are free and if you can live up with the nagging window some of these free security apps show, you should be fine.
